The early Nineties was still a time when HIV positive almost certainly meant death and also people were still unsure of how to deal with those who had contracted it. This story is based on real events. Alison Gertz (Molly Ringwald) is a middle-class, heterosexual, morally correct teenager. But her life, and that of her close family and friends, changes dramatically when, after a one-night stand, Alison becomes HIV-positive.
