"9 Songs" is a film by Michael Winterbottom that features very explicit close-ups and sex scenes. One of the director's stated goals was to portray sex between the two main characters as realistically, non-eroticly, and explicitly as possible, while also avoiding censorship. He wanted to test the limits of his abilities in this area and make the film available to the widest possible audience. In the UK, "9 Songs" earned the title of "the most explicit feature film directed in popular cinema," which was entirely intentional.
