Sparrows 2015

Pale and rather unpretentious, 16-year-old Ari (Atli Oskar Fjalarsson) lives with his mother in the capital of Iceland, Reykjavik. Almost overnight, he was kicked out the door when one day his mother told him she had to go to Africa for a research project and he couldn't go with her. Instead, he must pack up his things and move in with his father Gunnar (Ingvar Eggert Sigurdsson) in the remote northwest of the country. This isn't an easy step for Ari, after all, he hasn't seen his father in six years. He is even more terrified when he sees Gunnar again after all this time: he drinks too much, works too little and shamelessly exploits his own mother (Kristbjörg Kjeld). Other young people in the city do not welcome him with open arms either. At least his old childhood friend Lára (Rakel Björk Björnsdóttir) is there. But her possessive boyfriend Einar (Benedikt Benediktsson) ensures that Ari and Lára cannot get too close...
